Linda is a teacher in the Brookings School District, teaching Reading Recovery and Title I reading at both Medary and Hillcrest Elementary Schools. She and her husband Don, an SDSU professor, have lived in Brookings since 1995. Their daughter, Susanna, will be entering the 8th grade this fall. The family is very involved at Gracepoint Wesleyan Church.
Linda’s mother, Colleen Drysdale, lived at ULC from 2005 until her death in 2011. Linda agreed to be on the board as a way of showing her gratitude for the care her mother received, and as a way to contribute to ULC’s ongoing mission.
I grew up in Tennessee, attended university in Kentucky and have lived in 5 different states. I graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Agriculture. I work for Land O'Lakes in the role of Recruiter.
My husband Chad and I moved to Brookings in 2005. We are blessed with three children, ages 18, 6 and 2. Our first child entered the then URC in 2007 in the original building and our child was in the first group of children that moved into the new CDC bldg. In 2011 we enrolled our second child at the ULC. We have truly enjoyed our relationship at the ULC through such unique programs such as S.T.A.R (someone to admire and respect) where we were paired up with a lovely resident~ Grandma Colleen. Not being a native South Dakotan this was a blessing to have a “special” Grandma. Our oldest child, while not attending the ULC, was able to partner through a dynamic relationship that occurs between the ULC and Brookings High School -FCCLA chapter and their early childhood teachings.
As a recruiter I absolutely love the opportunity to sell the unique culture opportunity we have here in Brookings available at the ULC to children, parents, Grandmas/Grandpas. Our families, back home, are just so impressed with nurturing environment in which our children are able to be cared for in at the ULC.
I am proud to be an active board member here at the ULC!
