The ULC Campus is very fortunate to have many generous donors who assist us in working toward our mission of Alleviating Loneliness in a Vibrant Environment! The 2014 Donation Appeal went toward the purchase of the Polaris Ranger 800. Bill Thelen, ULC Director of Environmental Services, worked with Porters out of Brookings for a long period of time just waiting for the right unit to show. Finally, Kirby called and said he had a nice trade in from an older gentleman. Bill went to look at it, and it was just what he had wanted and needed. The 2012 Polaris Ranger with cab, equipped with stereo, 72” snow plow with electric lift, light bar on roof for plowing snow in the dark, heated cab, windshield wipers, etc. This thing is loaded! The Ranger is used to pull our ULC trolley with our residents to any destination in town with no worries. Some residents like to ride up front in the cab once in a while also. Just over the summer, the Ranger has been used for Resident fishing trips, frequent trolley rides, as well as the Senior Marathon. We also use it for yard work at ULC, and in the winter time, we move a lot of snow with it -- cutting the amount of time we used to spend moving snow, plus we are in the heated cab. We would like to thank all of our generous donors for your support and commitment to the ULC Campus. You are greatly appreciated!
